## How I approach routines
## Routines for non-routines
We often talk about routines in terms of things you do on repeat. After all, that’s what routines are.
Yet the powerful benefit of a routine is that it can **reduce the need to remember non-routine items.**

```
For example, if you can form a routine to pull up and check off items on your morning routine, you use that checklist to remember a rare early morning call you need to be on tomorrow.
It’s not just useful, it’s not just organized, it removes the anxiety from the equation. Ultimately, you're leveraging the organizational tool to step in for your working memory and executive functioning. The task for you is transformed to program the routine into your life.
